Monty

Monty is a thoroughbred gelding who has been retired for life with Coudia Equine.

He came into care after being starved for quite some time as well as being abused, so is very food agressive. He has been in care for many years now, and has improved at feed time, but can still be a handful.

He has days where he is the sweetest boy and wants nothing more than to follow you around the paddock while you work. Then he has bad days where he wants to kick you the moment you step into his paddock. He can go for days or even weeks without an outburst, and they happen seemingly randomly.

Due to his unpredictable behaviour, we have decided he is too risky to rehome as we would hate for anyone to get hurt, or for him to be misunderstood and mistreated further.

He will live out his days with Coudia Equine.

Joker

Joker is a 17hh Thoroughbred gelding. He was privately surrendered.

He has remained in care for a few years due to ongoing fore leg issues. Both front hooves have very thin and soft soles, treatment has improved these issues somewhat, He also has a fused fetlock on his offside fore, but his biggest issues are his pedal bones. Sadly, they are crumbling.

There is nothing that can be done for this, other than keep him comfortable and sound for as long as possible.

He currently must wear front shoes at all times or he is lame. At this stage we are able to keep him paddock sound with front shoes. Sadly, it is only a matter or time until his pedal bones crumble enough that he will no longer be able to remain pain free. He is monitored daily for pain responses.

He has been retired with Coudia Equine for what little time he has left.

He is a gentle giant who is an absolute pleasure to care for.

Sarge

Sarge is a Standardbred gelding, born approximately 1997.

He has been adopted, but due to him being an aged horse with higher needs, he will be covered by Coudia Equine for life, which is why he's in the 'permanent residents' section.
